Renn Labs is building more than our small team can ship — several products across B2B and consumer, all AI-native. We're hiring a Senior Product Engineer who takes an idea and drives it to shipped product, leads how we build, and grows with the company. You'll work directly with leadership, own delivery across our products, and set the bar for how we build. This is not a ticket-taking role, and it's not a hands-off manager role. The best small teams in 2026 ship by having a strong builder direct AI coding agents, review the output, and own the outcome. That's how we work — and it's who we're hiring.

What You'll Do

What You'll Own (First-Year Outcomes)

  • Take leadership out of the critical path — own delivery so most releases ship without leadership in the loop.
  • Be generative — spot what we should build or fix, and ship it. "I saw X, so I built Y."
  • Lead the build — direct and review a small team (incl. AI-generated code); set the quality bar; ship fast without breaking trust.
  • Reach the truth fast — when something's ambiguous or confusing, you diagnose it and bring answers, not just questions.
  • Grow — earn your way toward a Head of Engineering/Product seat.
  • A real example of week-one-to-month-three work: take an ambiguous new product idea from concept to a working demo, end-to-end — UI, API, data, and the AI parts.

What You'll Work With

  • Backend: Node/Next.js APIs + services, PostgreSQL with Prisma/Drizzle (Supabase on some apps); Python for AI/agent services.
  • Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind.
  • AI: OpenAI + Anthropic SDKs, Vercel AI SDK — real product features (extraction, RAG, agents).
  • AI-assisted dev: Claude Code, Cursor, MCP agents — every day.
  • Tooling: Vitest + Playwright, Sentry, Stripe, Docker, Vercel, GitHub.

What We're Looking For

  • Backend-strong full-stack — design schemas, clean APIs/services, solid PostgreSQL data modeling. Comfortable in TypeScript and Python.
  • You build with AI tools and review what they produce — direct Claude Code / Cursor / agents, catch their mistakes, never paste blindly.
  • You've led delivery — driven work end-to-end and raised the bar for others (formally or not).
  • High agency — you take ambiguous ideas to production largely on your own; you decide what matters and cut what doesn't.
  • Product partner — discuss direction with leadership, take feedback, and distill it into a clear path you lead the team toward; argue your case, then commit fully — even on a call you'd not have made.
  • Ramp fast, high autonomy, English working proficiency.
  • Nice-to-Haves: AI product features (RAG, extraction, agents) · fintech/lending or marketplace experience · a product/app you owned end-to-end (side project counts) · an eye for UI/UX polish.
